ABOUT ME
My name is Tamara Hooks, and I’m a graphic designer living in San Antonio, Texas. I moved here from Key Largo, Florida in 2006 where I worked at the MIAMI HERALD NEWSPAPER as a paginator and ad designer and the FUENTES & BURCH ADVERTISING AGENCY representing retail and resort brands that included SIMON Malls, Baptist Health Systems Latin America, Hampton Inns, Marriott and Courtyard by Marriott hotels and several all-inclusive Caribbean resorts including Breezes, Couples, Swept Away and more. My agency created newspaper and magazine ads, collateral, direct mail, signage, billboards, plus radio and television commercials for our clients. Since I moved to San Antonio, I have worked exclusively as a magazine designer. Recently, I’ve expanded my skills to include web and digital design. I build WordPress landing pages and websites with the Elementor page builder, plus compelling social media graphics for local businesses.

Research, Research, Research, Inspiration and Intuition. When I am tasked with an assignment, I start by learning everything I can about the client, their product, people and process. Next I look at their competitors. I attempt to find what makes them unique within their industry and capitalize on it. I’m a designer, but I have a considerable background in Marketing & Sales. Attractive design is GOOD, design that actually sells products is BETTER. That’s my specialty.
